The Two Moors Festival
The Festival enters its second decade with a determination to forge onwards and upwards. There has always been an air of buoyancy surrounding it and a keen sense of energy that gives the audience a real buzz.
For nearly every concert the artisits have been given a "Transcriptions" pointer and from this has emerged an extraordinary array of exciting and imaginative recitals. Several performers are playing works which they have arranged themselves and in the case of Maxim Rysanov's choice of repertoire, several have been adapted for the viola from the violin and cello original scores. The Festival organisers have devised a project involving a string quartet and a wind ensemble in two seperate lunchtime concerts, then combining them to perform Klaus Simon's chamber versions of Mahler's 4th Symphony.
Of course, none of this would happen without the monumental support the Festival recieves from trusts, organisations, the Friends and private donors. People need cheering up in times of hardship and for this reason there is no increase in ticket prices this year.
The Two Moors Festival takes place across Dartmoor and Exmoor from the 13th - 22nd of October.
